New Romance?

Mission: When Iconians Deserve to Die

The station's lake waters shone as the sun rippled over many directions as the water broke as the ship's engineer pulled herself out the water and onto the beach. She wasn't having as much fun as she normally would with her right arm still in its medical rejuvenator from the bite mark she'd received from some of the genetically engineered animals. It had been a trying job getting into her pink bikini and boyshorts for one thing.

Still, even that wasn't keeping her down as she was very happy as she sat on the beach looking over the amazing artificial station. This place could be called paradise.

"It appears we had similar ideas," T'Pral appeared through a path leading to the beach. Dressed in a blue bikini and carrying a towel over her shoulder. "How is your arm?'

"Hurts like hell. Doc says the rejuvenator will keep going through random settings until it can kill the bacteria in the mouth of that creature. Too bad, I didn't get a look at which one it was. How you doing T'Pral?" The andorian asked as the hybrid walked towards her.

"I am doing well," she replied, laying the towel down on the sand. "The medical staff in the infirmary were able to heal my wounds and I have been busy setting up training schedules for my department."

" Good. At least we can get some time off while the ships being repaired. I hope the captain doesn't intend for us to go through another time jump for a while. " Thex responded grinning.

"I agree, though knowing the Captain's somewhat reckless behavior, I would not put it past her," she commented as she thought about O'Mak. The woman left behind everything she had known to come with the crew. Doing so was reckless in her part, however, O'Mak seemed happier here. "Did you have any activities planned other than swimming?"

" As soon as my arms fixed i'm going off to one of the small nearby starports to meet someone. " Thex replied

"Oh? Who are you meeting? Family? Friend? Lover?" T'Pral questioned with a slight grin.

" Family. My great great grandfather to be exact." The andorian replied before she notched T'pral look of confusion. " It's a long story, short version is he's my great great grandfather who's an alien species know as a valon. They look like giant jellyfish. Well I think they do I've never seen another one other than Vash."

"Sounds fascinating," T'Pral commented.

"That it does," Warrant Officer Read commented as he approached the two women, dressed in black/red swim trunks and a tank top.

"What are you doing here, Read?" T'Pral asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, I couldn't pass the chance to swim at a real beach and the fact that it has two beautiful women on it doesn't hurt," Read smiled.

" One beautiful woman and an Andorian cripple." Thex replied jokingly holding up her arm.

"Ok, then. A beautiful cripple," Read chuckled with a smile and gesture towards Thex.

T'Pral studied Thex for a moment. "I believe Thex is in need of cheering up," she said to Read.

"I believe so too," he replied as he picked her up over his shoulder and ran towards the water. T'Pral watched as Read ran into the water as she followed closely behind.

The andorian laughed as the betazoid picked her up and ran towards the water. As they hit the water she was able to wriggle free and swim off. Even with her arm not functioning she was a talented swimmer and was able to move underwater and come up behind them. Using her good arm she sprayed the betazoid and hybrid with water.

Read and T'Pral laughed as they splashed back. T'Pral didn't normally let her emotions go but this was one time she concluded that it was alright for her to let her Vulcan logic go--something she had never been very good at maintaining.

Read counted himself lucky to be in the company of two beautiful women--however one was his boss, yet the other one was free game as far as he was concerned as water was splashed at him from T'Pral's direction.

Thex smiled as she let out another splash before leaned back and allowed herself to float on her back. Her blue eyes gazed up at the artificial sky that covered the dome of the station letting her body free up and relax.

"It is a beautiful view...nice to see a sky after being aboard the Hera so long," Read said as he swam next to her.

" Yeah, it is." Thex replied softly as she looked up at sky. " You forget how it looks after being down in the ships belly for so long."

"I bet. Your version of a sky is warp core," Read joked.

"USS Hera Security to Lieutenant T'Pral. Your presence is required," came the announcement over the station's intercom.

"I should allow myself to be kidnapped next time," T'Pral grinned as she joked about being out of touch. "You two have fun," T'Pral said as she made her way to the shore.

" We will." Thex replied before looking at Read. " So Read think you can beat a cripple to the other side of the lake?" she said joyfully to the betazoid.

Read grinned. "Only if you're up to it. Wouldn't want to embarrass you," he winked.

" Oh, I'm up for it." Thex responded as she swam slightly to get alongside the security officer. " On three?"

"Sure. One...two...three." Read counted down.

" Go." Thex yelled as she started powerful strokes propelling herself forward and across the lake. She could feel her heart pounding as her body started working overtime to keep her moving. Even with her arm being held back she was made for this. She shoots through the water heading for the opposite shore.

Read did his best to keep up with Thex. A part of him already regretted challenging an andorian to a swimming contest, especially Thex who seemed to be part fish. Half way in the race, his arms and lungs burned as they worked overtime to keep up Thex's pace.

Noticing Read dropping behind the andorian slowed in case something happened to him. " You okay Read." She called back over her shoulder.

"Don't worry...just waiting...to make...my move," he called between breaths as he closed the distance.

Waiting for the Betaozid to catch up Thex started again making the last stretch in a very short time. Turning she looked back at the security officer who was staggering out of the water after her. " Little too fast for you Read? " She asked her voice showing a slight sound of concern.

"Nah, just getting warmed up," he said with a grin as he walked out of the water towards Thex. "How'd you get to be such a fast swimmer?"

" My..." Thex said before pausing looking for the correct words given the security officers species. " Well my Chan and Thann would regularly make us swim a decent chunk of the andorian ocean. I was rather good at it. One of the few times i could get away from them."

"That must have been a cold swim," Read remarked. "I take it you didn't get along with your parents?"

" Get along? After what they did to me I'll be happy if i never saw the four of them again." Thex replied bitterness rising in her voice.

"I'm sorry," Read said, sensing her anger. "Let's talk about something else--you're too beautiful to be angry."

" Thanks. My past isn't exactly the most pleasant of topics. You really think I'm beautiful?" She asked inquisitively?

"I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it," he said, taking the few seconds to take in her fit form.

" Well..." the andorian said as she moved slightly towards him. " How about we swim back get our things and go back to my quarters so we can get to know each other?"

Read hadn't been expecting that response but he wouldn't turn it down either. "Sounds good," he smiled as he stepped to her, wrapping his arms around her and kissed her.

Thex returned the kiss hoping the alien taste wouldn't put him off. Grinning she stood up and headed back to the water. " Ready for round two?" She jokingly said.

"Of course," he grinned as he followed her into the water.
