| Physical Description | Haruna has short brown hair which usually comes down to shoulder height. She keeps one side of her fringe to one side with hairclips and in the center it drops down to her eyes. She looks a lot younger than she actually is, and can often be mistaken for a cadet. She has a slim athletic build and is rather small for her age. She has always been called a "shorty" and it is often a problem for her. She often can't reach high shelves. |

| General Overview | Haruna is a very talented young woman. She is a very capable engineer. She however does have a little bit of a temper and can sometimes act out. Haruna also has a nice side to her being caring and determined. Off duty she can be rather reserved and can sometimes be a bit of an isolationist. However she does like to build and fix things. |

| Personal History | Haruna was born on Earth in Japan in the town of Toyosato where she attended the local school there. Her father ran an engineers workshop for the town in which he fixed hover cars and commercial vehicles. From an early age she had always been fascinated by them and always helped her father with helping in the repairs. Since she was eight years old Haruna knew she wanted to do engineering and to fix things. Instead of going to High School at age sixteen Haruna enrolled into the Japanese National Engineering School. At this time she had already been playing around with engines and vehicles. However she wanted to go even higher and play around with more advanced technology. After two years at the school Haruna applied to go study Engineering at Starfleet Academy. Because her grades were very good she was instantly accepted. During her first year of the Academy Haruna stayed in the Starfleet Dorms on campus, but she was often seen as a bit of a strange girl. Mainly because she spent countless hours in the engineering workshops and her room taking things apart and putting them back together again. She often had the micky taken out of her due to her being a "know it all" and being short and looking like a kid. However she didn't really care. It was her second year that she earned the strange nickname of "Girl Genius". A lecturer in history of Engineering who she had always found boring had shouted at her for not paying attention in his lecture. Therefore Haruna spent the night taking a type eight shuttle apart and then assembling it in the middle of his classroom. This prank got her into trouble, however the Chief of Starfleet Engineering found it pretty funny and she got off lightly. Throughout her third and fourth years at the Academy Haruna put her head down and did some serious studying. In this time she developed a small forcefield emitter that would place a low level forcefield around her so that she could study in the library without people trying to kick her out. The librarians hated her for it, but then again when she wanted to read then she had to read. Simple as that. She graduated the Academy in the top 5% of her class. Instantly she was snapped up by the USS Yorktown as the Assistant Chief Engineer due to her grades in the academy with the rank of Ensign. Aboard the Yorktown was a good time for Haruna. She started a new project where she started a new program building a 20th Century Ford Thunderbird car from scratch. She slowly worked on this on her time allowed on the holodeck building all the parts from scratch and making it to her own specifications. Also on the Yorktown she started to experiment with cooking. For the first year she spent aboard the ship all she could cook without burning was eggs. So she ate a lot of omelettes and fried eggs. She got so good at it she considers it her signature dish, yes she is that weird. Once the Yorktown returned to Earth Haruna was put up for reassignment and promotion. Mainly because the Captain of the Yorktown recognised her potential and knew she could excel. Also she is more than capable of commanding an engine room and knew that Starfleet needed more younger officers in their ranks. After a week she was assigned aboard the USS Ranger as their new Chief Engineer. Haruna was excited to get her hands on a Intrepid Class, she knew that they were big complicated ships and she was way too excited to get aboard and get her hands on "Those amble nacelles" as she put it. After serving for two years on the Ranger, she eventually got into an argument with the ships command staff. She found herself reassigned the week after. She didn't seem to really care, but she missed being the Chief Engineer. It was then she returned to Earth to look for a new assignment. Due to the black mark on her record no one would take her on, seeing her as a troublemaker. She eventually managed to get a position aboard the USS Hera in their Research and Development Department. |
