| Personal History | Dylan was born to Spanish parents on Earth in the city of Madrid, Dylan had an unremarkable upbringing. Unlike his siblings who were given typically spanish names, he was named after his parents best friend who was British. When he was seven years old, his family moved to England where his father became the professor of Ancient History at Oxford University. Life at boarding school was difficult for the young boy due to the language barrier that first existed between him and his school mates. However, with time he learned how to speak English much better and soon became popular amongst his friends. He had never been interested in girls and attending an all male boarding school proved difficult for the young boy. With all of his friends being heterosexual he gradually became ostracised as different and as time went on became increasingly shy and withdrawn. When he was sixteen he met a brand new young teacher by the name of Shane Williamson. Dylan became entranced with the older man and it was no secret that Shane was openly gay. After class one day, Dylan stayed behind and began chatting to Shane. He was keen to get to know someone with the same sexuality as him and soon the friendship became something more as Shane took the young sixteen year old to his bed, becoming his first lover. The pair fell in love even though their affair was forbidden, the twenty four year old trying hard to keep their romance secret. But like all secrets, the pair were finally outed resulting in Shane losing his job and Dylan to be expelled from school. Being a traditional family, Dylan’s parents were ashamed of their son sending him to counselling to try and rid him of his ‘obsession’ as they called it. Hating the way he was being treated, Dylan finished his high school education and thanks to excellent grades and a high IQ was accepted into Starfleet Academy. His intention was to get as far away from his family as he could and what better way than to go into outer space. It was whilst he was at the Academy that he met and fell for Ethan a fellow student. This time the relationship could be open and not considered sordid. Unlike the old fashioned private school network and his even more old fashioned family, the Starfleet family was accepting and allowed the relationship to flourish with supportive friends and the freedom to be totally open. That was why it became a huge blow to Dylan when he and Ethan began to argue. Unbeknownst to the young Spaniard, his sister had been feeding Ethan lies about him, making the other man doubt Dylan’s sincerity and it was when Dylan made the decision to change from science to intelligence, that the straw that broke the camel’s back ensued. A huge argument took place ending in Dylan storming out, totally unaware that the break up had been orchestrated by his own family. The loss of Ethan hit Dylan hard and after graduation he became renowned for being a real game player, moving from man to man to find satisfaction yet falling for none of them. After being on the Akira class ship, the USS Claymore for most of his career as an intelligence officer, Dylan was reassigned to the USS Hera where an unexpected surprise awaited. Ethan was suddenly back in his life. |
