| General Overview | Having no kids of her own due to a genetic disorder and after suffering a miscarriage, Ginny Klem has become a bit of a mother abroad. Regardless of where she is posted and regardless of the duration of her posting, she always manages to at least take a few shipmates under her wing. Whether they be young enlisted personnel or young officers, Ginny has is in her to become 'everyone's mother,' a role she respects with duties she loves. She will always be there for one of her 'kids' through the best of times and through the darkest of times, comforting them in times of need, encouraging and supporting them, and even disciplining them when they do something foolish or stupid. She has zero tolerance for anyone harming one of her 'kids' and will defend them fiercely against mistreatment, even if that means getting into a shouting match with their Captain or god forbid, an Admiral. She has done it in the past and would do it in the future if she felt it was necessary. It's a slight surprise she has lasted in Starfleet as long as she has, but the fact of the matter is, Ginny is damn good at her professional duties and people tend to give her some leeway as a Tellarite. Ginny is protective and mothering of all who befriend her, and has been known to be a private confidant to First Officers and even Commanding Officers. Often times, her enlisted rank doesn't matter to people. Even though Ensigns and Lieutenants easily out rank her, they learn very quickly to respect her years of experience and sharp intellect when it comes to technical matters. She has the field experience and general knowledge that an officer in Engineering or Operations would learn formally through Starfleet Academy. Ginny, instead, learned it all through hard work and long hours aboard starships and stations. Though she has a fiery temper and an argumentative personality typical of a Tellarite, she is also very kind, compassionate, and caring towards people she values and respects. She has grown to understand the differences between Tellarite culture and the cultures of Humans and other species. When she is truly pissed at you, you will know, and the gentleness of her tone at times is not condescending. Many people come to find being in the same room as her as calming and reassuring. She can be a bit over bearing and overly protective at times as she has difficulties allowing her 'children' to be putting themselves in harm's way. This is why she is quick to volunteer for the more risky away missions, wanting to be with her 'kids' through thick and thin. |
