Is that drool or is your dog happy to see me?

Posted on Sun Mar 8th, 2015 @ 9:12pm by Tallara Lifal-Lesteh & Lieutenant K’a’mirh’un Tenm

Mission: Temporal Kickback
Location: USS Bacon Lounge
Timeline: Before the USS Bacon meets with the USS Hera

Stepping into the room, Tallara glanced around disinterestedly before settling for a seat at a small table towards the middle of the room. Sitting down, she looked out the window for a moment before punching up her order directly into the table's surface - some sort of melted chocolate souffle thing with caramel topping and whipped cream. The blue pointy eared woman enjoyed her pastries and this was one of her favorites.

As soon as the attendant delivered her order, she dug in, cutting a small bite so the inside liquid chocolate flowed out across the small plate, enjoying the look of the spreading chocolate as she savored the pastry part of it.

Elsewhere on board the Bacon, Lieutenant Cameron Tenm was taking his dog, Cairo, for a walk on deck ten. Like Cairo, Cameron had spent most of their voyage in a state of restlessness, with both eagerly looking forward to their new assignment on board the Hera. As they passed ten-forward, Cameron seemed perfectly content to continue on, but Cairo stopped him by whining at the door.

Given that Cairo's form was a few feet too small to be detected by the door's sensors, it didn't open for him. Cameron stopped and gave him a look. "I don't think so, bud. You'd eat everything you could find, and there's a lot of food in there." The dog whined again. Cameron pointed in the direction of the corridor with his head. "Let's keep going. I'll get you food once we're back in our quarters."

At that most inopportune moment, someone from inside ten-forward exited, and Cairo took the afforded chance to make his jailbreak. Cameron pursued him. There were few animals on board a Federation starship, and Cairo had undoubtedly made several of the Bacon's crew apprehensive in regards to his mere presence. With a dog now hurdling itself inside the lounge, Cameron suspected that those feels had been amplified.

"Cairo!"

But the dog ignored its master, and instead charged up past the plates of food and into the lap of an alien-girl. A woman that, like Cairo, Cameron recognized as soon as he saw her.

"Tallara?" Cameron asked, his mission to capture Cairo momentarily paused.

Tallara didn't immediately recognize the dog that ran up into her lap but she certainly recognized the voice calling it. Petting the lovable dog, she looked up and smiled softly, her heart undecided on if it was going to sink or flutter at the sight of her prior lover. "Hey Cameron. What brings you here?" she asked as she pet over Cairo's back and neck.

Cameron was still having a difficult enough time processing Tallara's re-existence in his personal universe, but Cairo seemed to have made the adjustment, and was now immediately content amongst Tallara's strokes. The Klingon-Trill hybrid rubbed the back of his neck, and presented a rather lop-sided grin while his mind caught up with the rest of him. "I, uh - Cairo and I are heading to the Hera."

God, she looked beautiful. Of the many things that he'd forgotten about from Chiron, Tallara's face, her smile, everything about her... he could never forget those. But he wasn't sure how to act around her now, not after so many years. "What are you doing here?" He asked.

Petting over Cairo some more, Tallara was flooded with memories too. Some bittersweet, some awesome, and several with regrets. She did her best to smile happily though. He was heading to the Hera as well? Was it fortune or bad luck that brought them together then? "I'm heading to the Hera. I'm with a team of civilian researchers that Starfleet wants aboard her."

Finally getting the overjoyed canine to settle down, Tallara motioned to the other seat at the table, glancing up at her former lover. "Would you like to join me?" Did she still feel for him? Undoubtedly. She was too confused on a lot of her emotions right now to figure out what she wanted to do with him though.

Cameron nodded, reluctantly. He wasn't sure how the other patrons would handle a dog sitting in a place of dining. Then again, if they had anything to say about it, he could always leave. Joining her at the table, he started palming the table, although only haphazardly, in search of something to order. It didn't last long. Within a second or two, he couldn't focus on anything but her. "Who would have thought we'd be working on the same ship together. I mean, we were both so sure after i left for Starfleet Academy that we'd never be able to spend much more than a couple weeks together each year." Cameron pressed something on the table - what, he didn't know. It was an order of... well... something.

"Yeah, go figure," Tallara said sheepishly. "With so many ships in the fleet, I knew there was a chance of it happening when they offered me a researcher position on the Hera, but jeez... I'm one of the independent biologists, by the way." She was poking at her chocolate dish somewhat nervously, not sure what to say after all this time.

For a moment, all Cameron could think about was offering some praise. After all, a civilian assignment to a Starfleet vessel was relatively rare, as far as he knew. But the words didn't seem right in his head, so he didn't say them. The waiter showed up and delivered something that didn't look even remotely appealing to him. But before he could say anything, the waiter was gone. Cameron laughed. "Feels a little weird, doesn't it?" He looked at her. "Us suddenly being back together again. It's not exactly something we ever considered happening."

"It's certainly unexpected," Tallara said as she looked curiously at the dish he had ordered. "I'd ask if that was a Klingon dish but it's not moving." Were they back together? A Nebula class was a pretty massive ship. They probably wouldn't run into each other too often. It was a chance to try to make a few amends though. Perhaps even to become a couple again. She used to enjoy his company and if he'd settled down a bit... Either way, being on the same ship would help a lot with that path. If things didn't work out... Well, the Nebula class was still a big ship... She didn't have to interact with all 780+ crew if she didn't want to.

Cameron glanced down at his plate. "To be honest, I have no idea what it is either. I just kinda pushed a button." He stopped and laughed quietly to himself. It was just like him to hit something without knowing what it was. He ignored the plate and looked into Tallara's Lavender eyes. "So, I guess I'll ask the question. If we're going to be here on the same ship for the next few years, what do we do?" He asked. "I mean, I haven't committed myself to any one person."

"Well, logically... We have three choices... Get back together and fuck like rabbits in heat, avoid each other, or just ignore the whole thing." Tallara said as she poked at the remains of her own dish for a few. "Personally, I'm inclined to try the first one and see where that leads, myself."

A grin manifested on the Klingon/Trill's lips. There were many aspects as to his relationship with Tallara that he remembered rather fondly. But their sexual appetite, particularly around each other, took the proverbial cake. "Just pick up where we left off then?" He asked, although the question seemed rhetorical as far as he was concerned.

Tallara flashed him her best grin, setting her fork back down. "Might as well." She remembered those days fondly as well. She could blame some of her libido at the time on her research and need for experience, but it was still amazingly enjoyable.
