Forsaken, Candle, and Thunder

Enalia had finally gotten some holodeck time and what did she spend it on? Reading a book. The setting was interesting, but it was more the real paper pages that held her interest - a biography of Mahatma Gandhi.

Then there was a flash of light through the room’s windows. Glancing up from her book, there was a sudden clap of thunder, a herald of the rainstorm that would come shortly after.

Getting up from her rocking chair, she crossed the room to close the main windows, the candlelight flickering slightly as the wind started to pick up outside the 17th century manor. It was looking like it would be quite the storm this time. That was good - she’d sleep better tonight than in months. Settling back in her rocking chair, she wrapped a small blanket around herself before returning to her book.

“Truth alone will endure, all the rest will be swept away before the tide of time. I must continue to bear testimony to truth even if I am forsaken by all. Mine may today be a voice in the wilderness, but it will be heard when all other voices are silenced, if it is the voice of Truth.”
―Mahatma Gandhi

Settling in, Enalia smiled as she read on, enjoying learning more about such a famous historical figure as the rain pattered against the glass windows, thunder and lightning not near as fierce as the initial burst.
