Civilian on the ship? Intriguing.

Posted on Tue May 5th, 2015 @ 2:33pm by Ulani & Lieutenant JG Airi Saxa

Mission: The New Sydney Fiasco
Location: Holodeck.
Timeline: Downtime, after Ulani coming aboard

Ooc-J: This character is a fighter pilot who's also a good shot with a side-arm (and a rifle too, but beside the point) I made this figuring she could be practicing, but the holodeck program was open. So Ulani comes in?

[ON]

After the whole fiasco with temporal stuff, Airi had avoided looking into what happened thus far. This whole temporal thing was crap, and she hated that kind of mystical stuff. It defied everything she knew. And yet she was here. In this new place..with her crew. Or well, it seemed like her crew.

Most of them had paired off. Or the ones who didn't kept to themselves. It was an eerie feeling, being aboard this ship. A suppressing feeling..and her instincts didn't like it. So for now she engaged in what she liked...target practice. Maybe she'd get selected for an away team sometime...but something else came to her mind and she lowered her weapon.

In this time, she needed connections. Her old network? Heh, couldn't get a hold of them now. Didn't want to be monitored after all. And Rhett? That Orion was more devious than she had believed..and surprisingly stayed away from her. She shook her head, in thought, unaware that she was being watched.

Ulani had been on board several days. During this time, since she was no longer Star Fleet and had no duty to perform, she spent a lot of time observing, meeting people she thought might be valuable to her task at hand.

She had met Nexi, quite a remarkable girl. This one had valuable connection and even knew of one of the Ferengi that Ulani was seeking out. Still there were others aboard that might be of use.

Another girl that impressed Ulani was a pilot. She could always use a good pilot. Word was that she was an excellent shot, most likely going back to one of her past lives in Intelligence. She did her research on Airi Saxa and was impressed. She was another female with a style that caught Ulani's attention.

She had followed Airi to the holodeck, staying in the shadows as she watched her enter. When the Lieutenant had entered, Ulani went up to the door and checked what program Airi was running. Hmmm...target practice. This might be an opportunity to break the ice. She checked and the holodeck was open to anyone else desiring to practice.

Ulani entered the holodeck and began to look for Airi. She wanted it to appear that this was an accidental meeting. But hopefully, she could encourage another to help her in her quest.

Her pistol was a black color, a variant on a Bajoran phaser, tuned to more Starfleet settings. Removable spikes lined the bottom diagonal surface, and an extra switch which looked like an old style safety instead would flip forward a small blade that extended about three inches in front of the muzzle. Fortunately this was sheathed, as was the smaller derringer phaser that she kept concealed on her person in varied places.

Raising her aim up, the distinctive sound rings out through the program, a phaser hitting home. Then she twirls it, shooting again, and then does a little dance move or two, spinning around to fire from behind her and hit the target.

Obviously, the young girl was too busy with her practice to notice anyone had entered. So Ulani just stayed in the background and watched. Airi had impressed her with a display of prowess that was unmatched by many Ulani had seen, including herself. This girl was nimbłe, lithe, flexible. Certainly, she would be a valuable friend to have here on the Hera.

Ulani stepped to the forefront and stated, "Impressive!"

Within a moment after hearing that, she'd whirled reflexively to train the special pistol on the newcomer, before twirling it back into her holster. "Hiya. Sorry about that. So you saw all that, huh?" The girl's eyes were sizing up the other in front of her. Without a doubt, attractive..even if her intuition told her that she was older than her.. "Thank you. Got a name, lady?"

Ulani chuckled at the term lady. She could be one when she had too, but had not heard it in relation to herself for quite a long time.

"The name is Ulani," she replied. "I'm here on personal business: visiting my son among other things. He's your CMO."

She paused as she retraced the shots again from memory. Ulani then probed her interest in weapons. "Have you ever thought of using your skills in something other than flight control?"

"I see. I met him..once." she recalled, before staring at her, the spots seemingly more prominent in the lighting of that particular moment. "Ulani, I've used my skills in many and varied ways. Not all of them are exactly spotless. Why, you looking to interest me in something? Or someone?" Spoken like someone who'd had memories of an intelligence operative and a memory of how they approached people. She could play the game. In more ways than one. with her mind, with her weapons...or with her body. Now it fell to Ulani to either advance or retract.

Ulani's grin became more mischievous. The girl's spunk was an attractive quality. Ulani was about to request a seat from the computer because she felt like a giant standing next to her.

Instead, she approached Airi. "I've checked on you. I know your abilities; your past lives." She reached a hand to Airi's face. "I could make use of all your skills."

"I see. I could very well take you up on this offer, but I gotta know more information first." She chuckled, noting the hand that was very close to her face, looking up into the other's eyes with that same kind of defiant spunk. With a subtle wink, she continued. "So what's the situation? You know that I'm not always the heroine type..something's gotta be in there for me, usually. Unless of course your story's a charity case."

"My mission is for justice. I've been chasing four Ferengi, one of which is now dead. They are responsible for a Viral epidemic that struck on Earth. My husband died trying to find a cure." She allowed her fingers to stroke the left cheek of the Lieutenant. "They are also slave traders. You have just the look to attract their attention. Pure sexiness with some sass." Ulani chuckled.

"As far as making it worth your while, I have something the dead Ferengi gave me. I'm sure it will be worth your while. Meet me in my shuttle at 1800 hours. Its in the main hanger bay, parked next to Nexi's shuttle. We'll have some Suarian brandy, chat a while and I'll let you see what your payment will be for your time."

Airi had an inkling of what it might be, but decided not to say anything. "Ferengi huh? I've never met a Ferengi I liked. Would always cheat at Dabo or at poker, cards, you name it." Then the compliment hit her. "If we're talking about what we're seeing, I like what I see too." A finger gently pointed at the older woman before she leaned against the target table, crossing her legs at the ankles and folding her arms underneath her chest.

"Ok. 1800 hours. You got yourself a date...and we'll talk business. Not a fan of the whole slave thing but those viruses are nasty business. And uh...sorry about your husband." She gave sheepishly. When they met again, Airi would pose her suspicions that perhaps there was a little more to it than just what happened to her husband.
