Rival Chat

Posted on Tue May 12th, 2015 @ 1:13am by Lieutenant JG Airi Saxa & Captain Enalia Telvan

Mission: The New Sydney Fiasco
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: After Making Flight Plans

ON:

The now fully suited up for duty Flight Controller stepped out onto the bridge with the usual swagger, but an extra spring in her step and a twinkle in her brown eyes. She made a beeline for the ready room and pressed the chime.

"Come in," Enalia called, the doors opening to reveal her rival for the flight controls of the Hera. "Please, have a seat. What can I do for you?"

A small smile graced the shorter girl's features as she sat down. She could get to the crux of the matter, but something told her to take her time. "Thank you." she would reply first, before continuing on. "I need to start my shore leave a little earlier than the rest of the crew. And I believe I need your permission for that, ma'am."

"I believe you're one of the people the Temporal Investigations agents wanted to interview. As soon as that's done, go for it. I don't foresee any piloting emergencies any time soon and I think the shuttlebay personnel can work out free time with the shuttles themselves." Enalia said as she sipped at a cup of tea.

"Oh, yeah.." Airi grumbled, trailing off a bit. "Frackin' TI." Then she looked at Enalia again. "Sorry. I just have some bad memories of having to put up with one Alden Engstrom XI. A truly obnoxious fellow."

Raising an eyebrow, Enalia couldn't help but wonder if 'Alden Engstrom' was a pseudonym and the current one aboard was just the 13'th person with that name. "These agents aren't any better though Agent Jenkins seems to be more polite than Agent Engstrom the 13th."

"Heh, fair enough. He reminds me of someone from old earth entertainment though, which is kinda ironic given what department he's with." Airi mused, wondering if Enalia saw the resemblance too.

Enalia wasn't overly familiar with Earth culture in general other than her time at the Academy. She could still make observances though. "He does seem a bit archaic in his mannerisms. Anyway, may I ask why the rush on shore leave?"

At this point Airi lost some of her outgoing nerve. She nodded softly in response. "Yeah um.." she looked down for a moment before back up at her fellow Trill. "I need to go somewhere with Ulani. She may or may not have talked to you about that." If this was an anime, there'd be a sweatdrop right now.

"In that case, have fun and try not to get hurt. I'd hate to try to explain in an accident report phaser burns during a rock climbing excursion." Enalia said with a hint of a smirk.

"Thank you.." her cheeks puffed slightly at Enalia's trolling, or what seemed like it. "Figured you might wanna know this before the grape vine gets out, but I think I'm on the path to a relationship with Lani. Don't worry, I'll keep it professional where it's needed." Unlike another officer on board...

"Good. I like to see professionalism where the job is concerned." Enalia said, her slight grin spreading slowly, the wheels in her head turning and plotting. "Was there anything else?"

"Just one thing..your reputation for mischief proceeds you." she chuckled. "I look forward to seeing what you have in mind."

"In mind about what?" Enalia asked innocently. "I'm sorry but I don't know what you're referring to."

"Uh huh." Airi replied skeptically. "Neither do I but I'm keeping an eye out." A smirk played across her lips as she stands to her feet. "At any rate. Thanks for speaking with me, and I'll give up the flight controls if you need something familiar to help you get through these tough times."

"Thanks, but I can stick with the holodeck for now. Have a good trip. Dismissed." Enalia said with a certain finality.

Airi waved and then headed on out of the ready room without another word. The Captain was a strange one, and one was supposed to feel affinity with others of one's race, usually. But, the flight jockey was only half-Trill..so maybe that had something to do with it. Regardless, she wasn't going to think about it anymore. Time to get the interview over with.
