Adding to the Mission

Posted on Tue Feb 23rd, 2016 @ 12:58pm by Captain Enalia Telvan & Commander Angelica Fairchild & Commander Sinek

Mission: Talosian Perversions
Location: Hera Bridge
Timeline: After Captain Telvan and Commander Fairchild Meet

Sinek had been observing the Captain and Angel. The Captain was sitting in the command chair, seemingly reviewing some data files. She was leaving the command of the bridge to her trusted First Officer. He assumed they had received orders from Star Fleet, because the Captain gave orders to a specific heading at warp 7.5. However, they had not met with Senior Staff as of yet to reveal their mission.

Inputting the coordinates at his station revealed that the heading was near the vacinity of Talos IV. At least, he had hoped they had received orders. Going to Talos IV without authorization would earn them an execution. He was about to probe the Captain - the logical thing - when he notice an alert on his board.

"Captain," he announced. "We have a subspace communication from Star Fleet Command."

Enalia was nervous herself about having to meet their first resupply rendezvous even remotely near Talos IV but the computer wouldn't let them input coordinates to there anyway without a 4th command code. With only three active aboard the Hera at any given time, they'd have to have Command issue codes to do so.

And Command was now calling... She still had yet to brief the rest of the senior officers of what they'd need to know, but there should have been plenty of time for that as it was. "On screen, Commander." Enalia ordered calmly, standing to face this communication out of respect.

"Aye, Captain," the Chief Science Officer responded as he stood to face the screen from the Science Station.

As the screen came up, Admiral Greywolf, the Star Fleet Command Liaison to Diplomatic Affairs appeared. The Native American man's face was solid as if carved from a cliff's rock face. Next to him was Ambassador Marsden, Chief of Diplomatic Affairs for the whole of Star Fleet.

"Ah, Captain Telvan!" the stone face started. "I'm glad we were able to reach you!"

"That means trouble," Angel breathed, not looking at the screen so they wouldn't catch her. If Greywolf himself wanted the Hera, it couldn't mean anything good.

Enalia barely caught the comment but ignored it. She too suspected something bad from the pair on screen. She was professionalism incarnate though, as she spoke. "Admiral, Ambassador. It's an honor to be here to receive your transmission. To what do we owe the pleasure?"

Sinek caught the Angel's response as well. However, his ears were larger and more sensitive than the Admiral's.

If the Admiral had heard it, he didn't let on. He cleared his throat and began. "We are aware you have recently received orders. Amour colleagues at Diplomatic Affairs," he nodded toward the Ambassador, "are concerned that diplomatic issues may arise as a result of contact with certain people."

He paused for a second to let that thought sink through to the Captain, then continued. "We have sent the Discovery on its way to rendezvous with the Hera. They are carrying a couple of seasoned ambassadors that will be very useful should any diplomatic situation arise. Once you meet up with the Discovery, you will transport Ambassadors Vesik and T'Qol aboard."

As the names were pronounced, Sinek raised a brow. He had not had dealings with them for fifty years. Had not heard anything from them. Was this their doing? They could be quite persuasive. At least they were fifty years ago. He found himself having to suppress so many feelings he couldn't actually describe what he was suppressing. He was, however, quite certain it was all negative. Still, he kept a cool, calm face.

Enalia was ever tactful for once, having dealt with a lot of admirals over the years. "We look forward to welcoming them aboard, Admiral. Is there any specific reason for the sudden diplomatic detachment?" she asked, glancing to the helm to see that rendezvous coordinates had already been sent. They'd be hard pressed to make both their dates with the Discovery and the Prospero.

"As mentioned," the Admiral sternly replied, "should any diplomatic incident arise, Ambassadors Vesik and T'Qol will not be swayed by any outside influences."

That was still very vague, but it wasn't entirely unexpected - Enalia had been working for Starfleet Intel for how long now? She knew that each Admiral had their own agenda and she could sit there guessing at it all day, but in the end, there was almost a Q like giddiness in her just to see how it all unfolded in the end. Especially when she had had a hand in creating the events unfold to her liking.

Nodding and smiling politely, Enalia decided she should wrap this up so she could get the ship underway to their new heading. "Thank you, Admiral. Your support in this is greatly appreciated. Is there anything else you have for us?"

"We hope you will not need their services, Captain," Ambassador Marsden finally broke his silence. "These are precautionary measures; we wish to be proactive in this matter."

"Thank you for your cooperation," the Admiral added. "We have come to expect you and your crew's success. We wish you well on this mission."

With that, Sinek watch the screen revert to the space immediately ahead of the Hera. Sinek recognized the term "proactive" as a term Vulcans often used when they were manipulating situations to their advantage. Vulcan's would boast that they do not lie, but he knew they would promote falsities if the logic told them it was the best for their advantage. The Chief Science Officer was certain that somewhere under the surface Vesik was controlling matters for his purpose.

This was becoming more and more frustrating. Now they had babysitters? "Helm, change course to the coordinates they sent, warp eight." As soon as the crewman there had punched in the data and the ship had changed direction, Enalia moved on to the Operations station. "Ensign Mayweather, is it? Send a message to the Prospero that we might be a few minutes late to our rendezvous. Also, you're in charge of the bridge for a while."

As the slightly startled young ensign glanced up and nodded at her, he started punching in the communications request. "Ma'am, if it's ok, could I retain this station while in command of the bridge?"

"That's fine, Ensign," Enalia replied, already heading back to her chair to punch up the intercom. "All senior officers, please report to the briefing room immediately." Releasing the button, she paused a moment to glance back at the viewscreen before heading to the conference room to await whatever officers could get there, not even realizing that all the people she really wanted to speak to were already on the bridge.
