New Sheriff in town

Posted on Sun Feb 5th, 2017 @ 4:13pm by Lieutenant Commander T'Pral Jordan

Mission: Refit Rondo
Location: Upper Promenade; Utopia Planetia Shipyards
Timeline: Current

Stepping off of the turbolift, Lieutenant T'Pral Jordan hefted her duffel bag in her left hand as looked around. Many people--Starfleet and civilians--hustled about the area that was lined with various shops and restaurants. On the opposite side was a view of the shipyards. She crossed the corridor in a brisk, confident stride, soon reaching the viewports. Outside, worker bee pods and shuttle pods zipped by on their mission to repair, upgrade or complete construction of various starships now docked.

One bay held an old Excelsior Class vessel which she had always been fond of and was the class of her last assignment, the USS Excalibur. Another bay held an Intrepid Class vessel that was currently having a nacelle replaced. Finally her eyes came across an upgraded Nebula Class Vessel that bore the name USS Hera; NCC-79010, which would become her new home. She would be in charge of the safety of at least 700 individuals--foremost of which would be the Captain's.

"She's a fine ship," came a familiar female voice from behind her.

Turning swiftly, T'Pral met the face of her mother, Captain Melissa Jordan, who stood in a Starfleet Duty Uniform with greying dark brown hair. "Mother? Why are you here?"

"Just a quick layover for additional supplies and then I'm taking the Indianapolis out to patrol near the Briar Patch. Your father sends his regards and that he regrets that he couldn't be here to see you."

T'Pral nodded. Her father never did approve of her decision to join Starfleet, feeling her talents would be better suited to diplomacy, law, or even science like her younger brother. "I'm sure."

Melissa placed a reassuring hand on her daughter's shoulder. "I need to go soon but I want you to know that your father, brother, and I are proud of you. Your father may not show it but I can tell the way he speaks of you. Please be careful."

T'Pral allowed a small grin. "Thank you, mother. You do so as well." She then raised her hand, giving the Vulcan greeting sign. "Live long and prosper, mother."

Melissa smiled. For the longest time, she had had trouble doing the sign properly but she returned it. "Live long and prosper, dear."

T'Pral watched her mother walk away. She wished for a longer meeting but she knew her day was just beginning and it would likely be a long one as she stepped off to the nearest turbolift to report aboard the USS Hera.
