Dylan works out Ethan is missing

Posted on Sun Feb 1st, 2015 @ 11:48pm by Lieutenant Commander Ethan Chaparral MD & Captain Enalia Telvan & Lieutenant Dylan Santiago

Mission: Reman Z

Dylan paced his quarters like a caged animal. After everything that Ethan had said in sickbay, he was out with another man and engaging in public displays of affection without a care in the world. He'd told him that he still loved him but he loved him so much he was carrying on with another man.

The Hera's new intelligence chief had been left broken hearted once by Ethan and he wasn't about to let it happen again. So why did he feel so wretched? As another wave of anger rushed through him, he decided he'd go and give Ethan a piece of his mind. How dare he hurt him like this?

Storming out of his quarters, he located his ex lover's quarters and pressed the door chime again and again, his finger jabbing angrily at the panel. True to his heritage, the Spaniard was quick to temper and he was well and truly spoiling for a fight. Frowning when the door was opened, he barked at the computer. "Computer, location of Ethan Chapparal."

The unflustered monotonous voice replied "Ethan Chapparal is not on board the Hera."

A deep frown marred Dylan's forehead as he asked "Where did he go?"

"Unknown."

"What was his last known location?" Dylan asked, his temper waning.

"Deck ten, section (14?), corridor 21." came the reply.

Before the computer had barely had time to reply, Dylan set off in search of Ethan's last location, virtually running along as a feeling settled deep inside of him that something was wrong. Minutes later, he found himself in the corridor where Ethan had disappeared and looked around, his eye catching something glinting near to the bulkhead. Bending down he picked up the necklace. It was a necklace he recognised. It was the one he'd given Ethan on their first month anniversary. And he still had it? None of this made sense. Tapping his combadge, he contacted the bridge.

"Bridge, this is Dylan Santiago, has Ethan Chapparal been sent on any away missions? Because he isn't on the ship and he disappeared from a corridor on deck ten."

Having been sitting in her command chair working on a few PaDDs rather than in her ready room as they flew towards the Romulan station R-134A, Enalia looked up, waving the ops Ensign on duty down and replying herself. "This is Commander Telvan. I don't tend to send people on away missions while at warp 8. Come up to the bridge and we'll see what we can find."

"On my way Ma'am." Dylan replied and with necklace in hand, he headed for the bridge.

Standing and heading to the back of the Galaxy model bridge, Enalia glanced at the science crewman currently on duty at one of the rear bridge stations. "Activate our primary sensor array and scan for tetryon bursts and excess background radiation. I'm betting that if those pirates are still following us, their engines are getting warm by now. Also, see if you can get a general query comm response from Dr Chapparel's comm badge." Nodding, the young woman at the console set to work as Enalia looked over the rest of the bridge for a moment. "Tactical, I want you to discretely load torpedoes in all launchers, but don't power up weapons or shields for just now. make it look like we're loading probes." Nodding, the Tactical ensign got to work as well.

"Reporting as ordered Ma'am." Dylan said as he exited the turbolift and moved to the CO's side, "I found this in the corridor, it's Ethan's, uh, Lieutenant Chapparal's, I think he left it as a clue that he's in trouble." he held out the man's necklace to show her.

Glancing at the necklace briefly, Enalia turned her eyes back to the science station. "Clue or not, he's missing and we need to get him back."

"Permission to start an investigation Ma'am." Dylan looked at his CO, unable to hide the look of concern for the man he once loved, hell, maybe the man he still loved.

Enalia didn't miss that look. It wasn't something she had experienced herself but she could at least understand it and recognize it as something more than concern for a fellow officer. "Granted. I'm betting the pirates that have been following us have him and even if they don't I bet they know who does." Pointing to the tachyon blip on the science officer's console, Enalia nodded. "It looks like they're following us at a decent pace. I had hoped that old bird couldn't keep up with us at warp 8, but it seems even with her cloak on she can."

Turning to the front of the bridge and leaning on the bridge rail a moment, the Trill woman debated what to do next for just a moment. "Helm, reduce speed to warp 5 as soon as we enter the nebulous region." That should change their arrival time at the station to just over 3 hours from now... Turning back to Dylan, she placed her hand on his shoulder and squeezed lightly. "I'm sorry but now we're going to have to play their cat and mouse game until they decide to show themselves. We also need to proceed with our current mission."

"But Ma'am!" Dylan protested before remembering his place and backing off as he uttered "Yes Ma'am."

"Don't worry, we'll get him back. It just might take a little while is all." Enalia said with what she hoped was a reassuring smile.

"I hope so Ma'am. I really hope so." Dylan replied with a shake of his head, dealing with just how much of an impact Ethan's disappearance was having on him at the same time as trying to remain professional.
