Mission: Temporal Kickback
Location: Security Aboard Hera
Timeline: After the Naked Truth

Lieutenant Commander Sinek departed the bridge and immediately headed to Security. He did not hurry, but he did not lag. Each step was precisely measured to walk in an emotionless demeanor.

Entering security, Sinek spotted a human female of average height, appearing to have considerable athletic abilities. Her brown hair was offset by the gray eyes. Her uniform was crisp and meticulous. It matched the description of the profile for Lieutenant Fairchild. He had studied up on all the profiles of the Senior Staff.

"Lieutenant Fairchild," the Vulcan stated without questioning who he was addressing.

Angelica didn't answer Sinek right away, in the middle of an impromptu unarmed combat lesson. "Good, but drop your shoulder further. If you can't flip me, you can't flip a Romulan or a Klingon, and I need you to be able to do that. Practice." She released the young officer, hoping he would take her advice to heart. Then she turned to her visitor, a Vulcan officer she hadn't met yet. "Something I can help you with, sir?"

The Vulcan stood with his hands locked behind his back, head slightly cocked, watching the Lieutenant finish the lesson. It was sound advice and purely logical. Her movements were fluid and impeccable as she demonstrated the action she requested. Sinek arched a brow at the notion that a non-Vulcan female could perform so well at hand-to-hand. Quite impressive.

"Lieutenant Fairchild," Sinek calmly expressed, "The Commander has asked me to assist security in the apprehension of the Deltan Female by the name of Sela. You may view the bridge security logs at 0800 this morning for an explanation. I have also sent a close-up of her facial features to security. Due to her being Deltan, it would be imperative to detain her with female officers."

"Bridge security logs..." Angelica hadn't checked those yet today, so she took a few steps to a nearby console to review them. She couldn't quite suppress the smile that came to her face, but she did manage to refrain from laughing. She knew that Sinek wouldn't be embarrassed by it, but laughing in front of him would be rude. "Oh my. Well we can't have her doing this to anyone else... or doing it to you again. We'll find her... and I appreciate the tip about detaining her with women. I don't deal with a lot of Deltans."

"In my previous dealings with the female," Sinek's flat tone continued, "she was a civilian employed in the ship's lounge. Perhaps that is the logical place to begin." The last of what Sinek said was stated in a manner to imply that, yes indeed, it is the logical place to begin. "Shall we investigate." Again, not a question.

For once, Angelica was glad she had such a good poker face. She understood that Sela had to be stopped before the Deltan woman caused any more trouble, but it wasn't like she could just drop everything on a whim and go after someone based on one incident. "I agree that the lounge is the most logical place to begin, and that she needs to be found quickly. But I can't just drop everything I'm doing with such short notice, sir."

The Vulcan arched his left brow again. Did the Lieutenant not understand that this command was coming from the Commander herself? Of course, he did not refer to the security log involving Commander Telvan discovering the discovered Vulcan on the bridge. The log would show the Lieutenant that the order was coming not from him, but her.

"I suggest that you review the bridge log at 1600 hours."

He played the log up to and including he Commander pronouncing, "The sooner she's in the brig, the happier I will be."

Angelica smiled tightly, but inwardly she groaned. What was this guy's problem? He wasn't just pulling rank; he was throwing a 'the captain said do it, so do it' order in her face. In front of her officers, no less. "Of course, sir," she said coolly, trying not to let her annoyance show through the icy facade she'd hastily constructed. "I would recommend that you get a phaser out of the locker by the door before we go down there. You might need it."

Give Sinek a tricorder and he was a pro. However, he was not handy with weapons. "A phaser could be useful," the Vulcan insisted, "but I am trained in Suss Mahn and koon-ut-kal-if-fee."

"This isn't a Vulcan boxing match, and she's already taken advantage of you once. You'll take the phaser or you won't be coming with me. Besides which, it's in the regs, Commander. You don't apprehend a subject without all members of the team being appropriately armed, and in this case that means phasers." Angelica pointed at the weapons locker. "All due respect, sir, but when a security officer recommends you get a phaser, you go get a phaser."

The Lieutenant's command voice was impressive. Sinek ran the logic through for a second and could not come up with an alternative to what she had said to him. He simply nodded, grabbed a phaser and replied, "I find logic in what you say." Sinek inspected the weapon, felt the balance and looked at the COS. "I will follow your lead, Lieutenant."

"Wise choice, sir." She didn't work with many Vulcans, but Angelica was starting to wonder if they were all as infuriating as Sinek was proving to be. "Keep your distance when we get to the lounge. Should limit her power over you, at least a bit." She did not wait for him as she left the security office area, trusting him to follow without being told.

Lieutenant Commander Sinek closely followed Lieutenant Fairchild, a brow arched. "Vulcan's are immune to the pheromones released by the Deltan people. To be precise, pheromones rely on emotions. If Sela had not used a gaseous substance, I would not have become subject to her ploy."

Sinek began to wonder what the gaseous compound was. He would have to run some tests, do some investigating. He seemed to remember it had a peculiar odor.

"Oh please. You might be able to sell that to Commander Telvan, but I know better. 'Vulcans don't feel emotion', my ass." Angelica snorted at him, none too concerned about his rank at that point. Vulcans were so ridiculous about emotional things. "I believe you about the gas though... and I don't have a way to fight that, so you'd better hope she doesn't have it."

Lieutenant Commander Sinek raised a brow. If his hearing wasn't as great as it was, he would have thought she had said something about feeling her ass, but it seemed more like a human curse coming from an emotional response.

I did not intend to offend the Lieutenant. The way that she handles herself is rather curious.

The trip to the lounge was a short and quiet one, which suited Angel just fine. Once they arrived, she glanced over the crowd in search of bald women, knowing that Deltans generally did not have hair.

Sinek entered behind the Lieutenant, his phaser held down to his side. Following, her lead, the Vulcan began to scan the area.

"If she has not taken her pheromone inhibitor, she will have a group surrounding her from the male gender," Sinek offered. As he finished this statement, he noticed a likely table with men standing all looking at the same subject in the center. Sinek's eyes met Lieutenant Fairchild's cool gray eyes. He motioned with a nod in the direction of the table.

"I see her." Hoping that this woman wasn't likely to be violent, Angelica headed over to where the group of men was gathered. As she approached, she could see the bald-headed Deltan woman in the center of the group.

Sinek was at Lieutenant Fairchild's side, phaser still down to his side. He was not a violent person, believing all things done logical can be handled peacefully.

The Deltan felt their presence before their shadow graced her table. As they approached, she looked at the men around her and proclaimed, "I'm sorry boys, but I'll have to catch you all some other time. I have business to discuss with my friends here."

The men appeared deeply disappointed by her words. Each of them had imagined that it would have been him with whom she left. Their hearts were broken, but they obeyed her wishes.

After the men cleared, Sela gave a mischievous grin and shot a vivid mental picture to Sinek's mind of the time they shared together twenty years ago. She nodded at the phaser in his hand and stated, "That's not the gun you used the last time."

"Your attack on my mind is unsuccessful, Sela," the Vulcan flatly stated. "I cannot give you what you desire."

"And don't even try it on me, lady. I'll just stun you," Angelica said bluntly, her hand resting on her phaser. "Sela, you're under arrest for assaulting a Starfleet officer."

Sela smiled in amusement at Lieutenant Fairchild's remarks. "I'm sorry, honey, but you're not my type. Let's just say you don't have the right parts." The Deltan tilted her head toward Sinek as she snickered. "Is this your new partner?" she asked the Vulcan.

If anyone were as alert to detail as Sinek was, the would have noticed his cheeks get a slight darker green tint to them. What he had experienced with the Deltan may have saved him. It was an extremely difficult pon farr. However, logic told him that Sela's constant drive from the lustful nature of the Deltans gave evidence to Sinek that she would not be a good candidate as a mate.

Sinek had been impressed with Lieutenant Fairchild since he met her a few minutes ago. She seemed to keep calm under the circumstances. Her communication had been direct and she seemed to take a logical course of action. Sinek quickly suppressed the feeling and dismissed the Deltan's question.

"We are not compatible," Sinek expressed, his cheeks tincture normalizing.

"We were so good for each other," Sela pronounced. "I finally had a lover that was not drawn to me by my pheromones. One to whom I could not send a psychic picture. Do you realize how boring all these," she motioned to the men in the lounge, "are. They could never live up to a Deltan's drive."

"This is not the place or the moment," Sinek stated.

Sela directed her gazed to Lieutenant Fairchild, "Do you want him, honey. He's all yours!"

The Deltan pulled a phaser from under the table and pointed it toward herself.

"Whoa, let's not get too carried away. This isn't about me stealing your love interest. It's about you using a gas to incapacitate him on the bridge." Angelica's grip on her phaser tightened ever so slightly. Her weapon was set on stun, but she had no way of knowing how Sela had hers set. "There's no need for this. Give me the phaser, Sela." She held her free hand out to take the weapon.

"It is only logical," Sinek stated, his hand still at his side. "Life matters to you. If you want someone that is not attracted to you by your pheromones, take your inhibitor. You are a young, vibrant Deltan female, who is pleasing to the eye. There are numerous males aboard that would be attracted to you without the assistance of the pheromones."

The look upon Sela's face became one of confusion. She dropped her hand slightly, her hand loosened around the phaser.

"He's right. If you want men to be attracted to you without the pheromones, use the medication." Angelica gingerly reached for Sela's phaser, hoping to get it from the other woman before she changed her mind.

Sela dropped the phaser into Lieutenant Fairchild's hand. It was set on kill. The Deltan lowered her head as the shame for what she had done washed over her. She held her hands before her, ready to be cuffed.

"I don't intend to cuff you unless you make it necessary," Angelica said gently, smoothly changing the setting on the acquired phaser from kill to stun.

Sinek found the way the COS performed her duty as fascinating. She stayed steady, used logical tactics and had a sense of mercy. She was quite impressive at how she handled herself.

The CSO nodded at Lieutenant Fairchild, then looked to Sela and gave a monotone, "After you."

Angelica nodded, gently ushering Sela out of the lounge and trusting Sinek to follow them.

Sela bit her lip, a nervous habit, and began to slowly walk toward the door of the lounge. Sinek quickly fell in behind, the phaser still down by his side. The Vulcan was conscious of this fact; he just never found much use for pointing a weapon at a person.
