The Hera is coming back!
Due to the lack of writing because of my failing health, we're ending 'Romulan Brainwashing' and beginning our next mission 'Refit Rondo'. Please see below for the updated timeline and please feel free to write backposts in relation to this timeline.
- 'Romulan Brainwashing'
While several of the crew were kidnapped and brainwashed by the giant roach people, including the Captain, what they didn't count on was that two joined crew were also taken and the brainwashing didn't take, giving those two full knowledge of what was going on.
They were able to discover the chemical brainwashing system in place and recover the rest of the controlled crew while at the same time backtracking the Romulan warbird in question. Maintenance had been neglected and though the D'deridex attacked immediately, the Hera was easily able to cripple the ship and after demanding they surrender, they blew up their own ship rather than talk.
This caused some extra damage to the Hera so while they hid in a nearby nebula and performed repairs, they continued with their resupply mission of other ships in the area, including the USS Katana. Shortly after the Katana resupplied, there was an incident in the computer core that crippled the ship. Being from a physically separate dimension, the Katana's parts were all slightly different on a quantum level, thus leading to incompatibility with parts created in this universe - even ones made in her own industrial replicators.
During the evacuation of the Katana, Several more EPS conduits exploded, rendering the spaceframe itself unusable and once the Hera had beamed off as much as they could of the previously transferred resupply, the ship was scuttled before the antimatter finished destabilizing.
This caused some minor damage to the Hera's Port nacelle and she was forced to limp back to the Sol system at warp 4.8 for massive repairs. Starfleet Intelligence, rather than just replacing the broken bits, decided that the Hera needed a proper refit and scheduled her for immediate refitment with their newest technologies, including completely replacing the tactical pod with an intel pod, completely new nacelles, and new armor plating which created a sensor scattering and dampening system when polarized. Other upgrades include new navigational deflector systems, half of engineering being upgraded, and the computer cores being swapped out for modern systems that the Hera was already scheduled for at her next refit.
While the refit is underway, most crew are staying at the various facilities of the Utopia Planitia Fleetyards. Several are assisting with the refit and while there are delays, both crews of the Hera and Katana are encouraged to take some time off to visit friends and family. Many of both crews will be assigned to the fresh launch of the Hera, while others are being reassigned to other commands at their request.
