January was another amazing month with some exciting adventures and interesting stories. We explored the Section 31 base overrun by zombies in zero G vacuum conditions. Which is always just so much fun, unless you have a tricorder built into the visuals of your EVA suit, and a big gun. Psychosis, thrills and chills and a guest appearance from our niece from 90 years from now highlighted the Hera’s January adventures.

A great month with great writing and good times, so let's get to the awards, which you all so richly deserve!

-=Fleet Level Awards=-
- Area 51 Gold Medal
This is based on post count and average posts per user- a pure numbers game versus other sims in our Task Force. We’ve now gotten Gold five months in a row! This is amazing and unprecedented! Let’s keep up the amazing work and we are already on track to set more records this month!

- TGCO Unit of Merit
This award means that we’ve impressed our task group leader on a level that is unquantifiable with mere words. We know what we’re doing right though. We’re having fun!

- Area 51 Writer of the Month - Captain Enalia Telvan
Over the past mission, Azmaria, through her NPCs, has come up with some amazing twists in the story and plot and still kept the mission on track, giving each writer and player more to write about at every turn and spurring them on to ever greater creative heights.

-=Ship Level Awards=-

Excellence in Marksmanship - Lieutenant Sonak
For being a consistently expert shot, as well as being clever enough to use a phaser to just cut the dang ceiling off while fighting Valkyries

Purple Heart - Lieutenant Samuel Clemens XV
For managing to lose most of his body during a fight, and then persevering through the valley of the shadow of Death in recovery.

Civilian Contribution Ribbon- Baroness Schwein von Alcott
Our beloved Baroness, who bonded with Death, pulled herself together, then jumped the god of thunder himself to chase after her Teutonic happily ever after. Yet another character we know we're going to lose, yet will miss desperately- here's to baroness Third Class Schwein von Alcott.

Humanitarian Aide Recognition- Hera
Selflessly using herself as a shield against the energies of Death itself, Hera steps up to humanitarian aide level.

Departmental Distinction: Technological Services - Commodore Farenia Meowlith
Department of Temporal Investigations was pretty amazing, as written by Captain Telvan, in the Paris Goes To Starfleet Command series.

Air Medal - Lieutenant Dox
for excellent piloting in the Battle of Starbase 336.

Chancellor Gorkon Peace Medal - Rita Paris
Battle of Starbase 336 was ended by Rita Paris managing to get all the parties involved to not shoot one another and arrive at a peaceful accord.

Melinda Snodgrass Measure of a Man ribbon - Captain Enalia Telvan
For the handling of Kodria Mizu, who worked her way into our hearts with a sublime skill. She is genuinely missed by the crew- the mark of great character depiction, of an android from the future who the crew hopes to meet again once more.

Francis Drake Citation - Lieutenant Sonak
''Since we are entering a potential battlezone, I can dedicate lateral sensors to supplement tactical ones; and I will program transporters to selective beaming of identified weapons, weapon energy sources and harmful substances so that any safe orthosis or prosthesis will be left out.''

Translation: Beam onto the bridge of the Hera in a battle, be prepared to get bounced back where you came from, buck naked. He will do you the kindness of leaving the fillings in your teeth, however. Because Sonak isn't cruel... just very efficient.

Expanded Universe ribbon - Ensign Mona Gonadie
For the creation of the unique and rich avian species, the Miradonians.

Paris-Kim Friendship Ribbon - Lieutenant JG Asa Dael & Lieutenant Mnhei'sahe Dox
Dael and Dox, friends 4-eva.

Diane Duane Citation for Excellence in Writing - Lieutenant Mnhei'sahe Dox
Mnhei'sahe Dox has been through a lot of changes, but none so moving as her voyage to earth to reconnect with her roots on Earth, both in the grandparents and town she could not wait to escape from, to her own mother. This award recognizes the excellent character work she turned in on this arc.

Extremely Awesome Extra Terrestrial - Kodria Mizu
While the Android from the Hera's future, Kodria Mizu, was only on the ship for a short while, she powerfully affected every character she interacted with and dramatically won over the hearts of the crew.

6 Months Ribbon - Lieutenant Samuel Clemens XV
Six months on the Hera! Well done, Chief Clemens!

6 Months Ribbon - Lieutenant Sonak
Six months on the Hera! Well done, Mr. Sonak!

Commander's Honor Award - Lieutenant Mnhei'sahe Dox
For keeping her head in Castillo De Muerte, even when paired with the psychotic Lieutenant Sexton and his crew of ill-trained and poorly disciplined security officers.

Clara Barton Nursing Ribbon - Lieutenant JG Asa Dael
For Bravery above and beyond in the Section 31-b adventure and for being a doctor, a counselor and a friend above and beyond the call of duty in "Rage and Regret" and many other stories. Asa Dael is the best Doctor in starfleet.

Tour of Duty: Mirror Universe- Commander Rita Paris
Retroactively awarded to Rita because hey, girl gets around.

Tour of Duty: Deep Space - Kodria Mizu
Awakening in a base abandoned to horrors 20 years earlier, Kodria Mizu found a way to call for help and stayed the course until a rescue mission came for her. In the darkest reach of deep space, she never lost hope.

That's all for this month, folks! Keep up the good work, and thanks for writing with us!
