Nathan's Arrival

Posted on Wed Sep 13th, 2017 @ 4:58am by Lieutenant Nathanial Summers DSci

Mission: When Iconians Deserve to Die
Location: USS Firehawk; Runabout Kyrie; USS Hera
Timeline: Current

-3 weeks ago on the USS Firehawk-

Nathan was in his quarters packing to leave. His transfer had been approved and he was finally going to serve on a capital ship after all these years serving on frigates and corvettes. His reverie was interrupted by the door chime. "Enter," he said and was pleased when Lieutenant Andrus Jaxx walked in looking as handsome as ever.

"Are you ready, Nate?" he asked.

"Actually I'm getting there, Andrus. Are you here to help or supervise?" Nate quipped.

Before Andrus could reply, Nate grabbed his and kissed him deeply. At first, Andrus fought the kiss but finally relaxed into it. Since Nate was already naked from the waist up, it didn't take either of them to get naked and...

-Later that same day-

"Nathan?" a voice from behind him said.

"Yes Sir?" he answered by reflex.

"Look, I just wanted to apologize for denying your transfer before this one. I was only looking out for you and was waiting for the right posting to come available."

"I understand, Sir, and I hold no grudges. In my family, they were considered anathema. So you approve of my leaving for 'greener pastures'?"

"Of course, I approve. You wouldn't be leaving if I didn't. Now come here and let's shake to your new assignment."

"Aye Sir," and Nate walked over to the door and shook his captain's hand very firmly.

-1 week ago Runabout Kyrie-

Nathan sat at the controls of the runabout given to him by his now deceased uncle. It pained that this was the last memory of a great man who died well before his time. He paid silent homage to Lieutenant Commander Raymond Grey. After his silent time was up, he brought his attention back to the control panel. "This is Runabout Kyrie requesting permission to get underway," he said with a heavy heart.

"Runabout Kyrie, you have permission to disemark. Godspeed and good luck, Lieutenant. We well all miss you," he heard the voice of his friend and mentor, Commander Tucker say.

"Thank you and no moreso than me, Commander. Summers out," and with that he cut the connection and fought back tears. Was he doing the right thing by leaving? He thought so. His career depended on this move. Since there were only so many command positions available on the Sentinel-class ship, he knew he had to leave if he was ever going to make it to Lieutenant Commander.

But was that the only reason for his leaving, he thought to himself. Finally he had come up with a good enough excuse for that; Andrus Jaxx. He wasn't willing to settle down right now and probably wouldn't ever be. That hurt Nathan deeply. Evidently, the love the two young-ish officers wasn't enough to keep them from growing apart.

-Present Day Runabout Kyrie/USS Hera-

It had taken him a week to make it to the Hera's present location and he was very excited to finally make it here. So after receiving permission to enter the flight zone, he banked his runabout and entered the main shuttlebay. Landing on the deck, Nathan stepped out and almost ran smack dab into a very handsome deck chief. Blushing, the non-com said "Excuse me, Sir. I wasn't watching where I was going."

"No harm, no foul, Chief. Carry on."
