Executive Master... Officer

Posted on Sun Mar 13th, 2016 @ 1:14am by Commander Angelica Fairchild & Lieutenant Taro Ishakawa & Petty Officer 2nd Class Amelia Takethen

Mission: Talosian Perversions
Location: XO Office

It was a morning; Ishakawa had groomed and dressed before the simulated sun rose; he would work through the day and be ready to rest with the falling of the night time. Like his ancestors the Elite Samurai. As was proper he had comm'ed ahead to make an appearance before the Executive Officer making an appointment through the Yeoman. He had to admit the XO having a personal Yeoman was rare concurrence, but that also showed the weight of the responsibility upon the executive Officer's shoulders.

Upon entering Officer Country and the Office of the Executive Officer he noticed the Andorian Yeoman, bowing when she noted his presence.

Lieutenant Taro Ishakawa reporting at the asigned time." He said while being respectful. "I thank you for arranging the time for me."

Amelia flashed a polite smile at the man, recognizing his voice from earlier. "You're very welcome. I've briefed Commander Fairchild on your meeting but she's pretty out of it right now so please don't expect too much focus from her." Pressing the door actuator, Amelia announced the visitor. "Ma'am, Lieutenant Ishakawa is here to see you."

"I shall keep that in mind, thank you for your insights." Ishakawa replied.

Ishakawa bowed just enough as required for respecting her advice before entering the office, he focus on the person that he is here to see, looking at her forehead right now, he had to keep it bracketed to save face as he closed distance to her desk.

"Commander Fairchild, It is an honor to meet you." He gave a honorable bow.

Not many were familiar with the old Japanese customs anymore, but Angel had done some reading to figure out what the appropriate greeting would be when she'd heard they'd be receiving an officer who still followed them. She inclined her head toward him with a slight smile. "Please, have a seat. We may be here a while as my mind is not where it should be."

Looking at the New Executive Officer to him ; he was a bit inclined by the statement to think of a time when he would have understood; it is a part of 'The Way' to understand one's Master and act appropriately. Somehow the expression and manner did not take him as by surprise as some might think, he had a time in his own life when his mind was not so close to his being.

"As you Wish Commander." He moved to the chair offered. "I understand." The Hagakure; the bible of the Samurai, teaches to be mindful on one's words and put meaning in them.

Taro felt he had said enough, he would be at her pace in the meeting.

If she were being honest, Angel saw no point in this tradition of new officers meeting both captain and first officer. It was just one of many things that Starfleet continued doing that were baffling to her. Skimming over Ishakawa's personnel record, she wasn't even sure really what to ask him that Enalia wouldn't already have covered. "Have you run a department before? That's the only thing I'm not finding here."

"Officially I was a deputy Department head before transfer." Ishakawa said. "Though the Chief was on his way to retirement and left much of the duties to me. I also have other experiances in being of Operations and running a team of people under my guidance." He referred to the time he had served as a slave and was the Orion assigned responsible for the prisoners doing their tasks or Ishakawa would pay the peanalty for lack of success. "I am ready for the challenge, I look forward to it." He said with a calm but firm tone. "All that I am will be put into the tasks, you will not have to worry about the Operations in the future it will serve the ship well."

"That's all I ask. Is there anything about the ship you'd like to know that Captain Telvan hasn't already covered?" Angel didn't like answering the same questions Enalia already had any more than she liked repeating things Enalia might have already gone over.

"What do you see as the major objective of Operations?" Ishakawa asked. "Is there something you would like to see improved in Operations? You will be my major point of contact; the Executive Master of the ship and it would help me to focus on what needs to be improved from a command point of view?"

Angel was doing her best to maintain a professional demeanor, but those questions nearly broke it. And she really didn't know what to make of that master executive line. "Lieutenant, your objective is to do your job. Whether or not something needs to be improved within the department is your purview, not mine. If the department functions, that's all command cares about."

"I am glad for simple explanations My last commanding Officer was a micro-manager." Ishakawa said. "Wanting to be a part of every detail. I apologia for the mistake." He said honestly. "I have familiarized myself with the ship and reviewed past reports. Trust that when I say OPS will not take up any more brain space than reviewing reports. It is my Honor to serve this ship Commander." Ishakawa nod to her. "I will serve her with my last breath faithfully."

"That's all we ask." Try as she might, Angel had nothing else to ask or advise the younger officer on, so she set her PaDD down on the desk. "If there's nothing else you wish to discuss, you're free to attend to your duties."

"Thank you for your time Commander." Ishakawa said and rose from his chair to leave.
