Formal Welcome

Posted on Tue Mar 15th, 2016 @ 2:04am by Lieutenant Taro Ishakawa & Commander Sinek

Mission: Talosian Perversions
Location: Operations
Timeline: After the Borg Incident

Commander Sinek reviewed the departmental duty rosters. He realized the only one currently missing was from Operations. It wasn't overdue, but perhaps the recent events aboard the Hera caused an oversight. Lieutenant Ishakawa had just arrived before the Ambassadorial Banquet. That was immediately followed by the Borg incident. The new Chief of Operations simply hadn't had the time to review the roster. Sinek thought he would help him out. It would give the Vulcan an opportunity to formally introduce himself.

Entering the Operations area, he sought out the new Chief. He approach, held up his right hand in the Vulcan greeting and evenly pronounced, "Lieutenant Ishakawa, welcome aboard. I look forward to serving along side of you."

Ishakawa had the holographic displays of the Duty Roster, requests for the ships resources and Supply requresitions surrounding him as he touched and moved the varied pieces along the display as though he were playing a game.

"Peace and Long Life." Ishakawa hoped hehad it right out of respect as he shut the displays down while he spoke with the commander.

"Live long and prosper," Sinek returned, inwardly impressed at the man's desire to respect his culture.

The Hagakure States 'When speaking to someone of importance always look them in the eye' and no believer in Bushido would do less. "I am honored you have come to my humble department. Is there something that I can be of servce to you?"

"Bushido." Coming from Sinek's lack of expression when he spoke, it was more of a statement, not a question. "The code of the Samurai, one of Terra's ancient warriors."

"Yes." Ishakawa bow slightly. "I am a practitioner of Bushido as was my father and ancestors before that." HE relayed. "The Ishakawa name goes many generations to the Age of the Samuari. It is a family tradition." HE had made his point. "How may I be of service?"

Commander Sinek grasped his hands behind his back. "I have come for three reasons, Lieutenant," Sinek calmly replied. "The first is to formally introduce myself. I am Commander Sinek, the CSO and Second Officer. The second, is to apologized for what happened to you during the Ambassadorial Buffet. Third, is to accept Operations duty roster."

"You honor me Commander." Ishakawa bow as is proper before he started to pull up the screens he was working. "The second I wonder why you need to apologize for my ... Nature interfering with a Vulcan ritual. I saw two prisoners going after one another as the Cardies often like to entice them t do." He explained as he brought up the screen that he had been switching things around. "The third is a simple bit of placing a few that have been noted to have strengths not utilized that I wish to observe their potential." The screen began to blink twice; once for copy and the other to transmit. "I am sorry I did not get to you sooner; I was perhaps second-guessing a little too much on the roster. Being new I wanted to make best use of personnel and reviewing records and reports rather than just recommendations took more time." He nod to the Commander. "I have sent you a soft copy do you wish one for a padd?" He offered. "It will be my humble honor to serve you sir."

"It is only logical that you need time to get settled," Sinek's unfluctuating vocal pattern spoke. "Added to that, it has been quite busy. The soft copy will suffice, Lieutenant."

Sinek turned to leave, but then turned back to Ishakawa. "Perhaps we could spar sometime. Since I was unable to use my kal-if-fee skills in a marriage challenge, perhaps we could learn from each other's skills."

A slight grin came to Ishakawa. "Learning new forms improves the mind as well as the body." He said."I would enjoy the exchange."

Sinek slightly bowed, "I look forward to it, Lieutenant."

Sinek turned and walked from Operations. Lieutenant Ishakawa seemed eager to serve, eager to please. Sinek was impressed that the man's sense of duty seemed as high as his own. In the Vulcan's judgment, the Lieutenant would serve the Hera well.

"I am learning the unique needs of the Hera crew so if there are any special requests please bring them to me and I shall do what is possible to fulfil them." Ishakawa offered.

Sinek's pointed ears picked up what Ishackawa was saying. Just before Sinek exited the door into the corridor, he turned and evenly pronounced, "I shall keep that in mind should the need arise, Lieutenant."
He turned and vanished from operations with the whoosh of the door.

"Vulcan tend to be to the point." Ishakawa thought as the man eft.
