Meet Mom's New Lover

Posted on Sun May 17th, 2015 @ 10:24pm by Ulani & Lieutenant Commander Ethan Chaparral MD & Lieutenant Dylan Santiago & Lieutenant JG Airi Saxa

Mission: The New Sydney Fiasco
Location: Ethan and Dylan's Quarters
Timeline: After 411

Sinek had left the boys' quarters. Ulani had tried to get an emotional reaction from him, but failed. It was too early to tell if he would take their advice.

Although she had not gotten an emotional response from Sinek, Ulani sure got one from her son. It was obvious that Ethan cared about Sinek. It was strange to see a Vulcan ask advice, let alone have a friend.

If Ethan got so emotional about me teasing a Vulcan, what's he going to do when he meets Airi?

"Ethan," she began, "I've asked someone to come here to meet you. It's someone that has become special to me."

"Special?" Ethan asked, "special in what way?"

"Do you remember me saying the other evening that I have been lonely for someone other than family?" She reminded. She looked between Ethan and Dylan, hoping one of them recollected the talk.

"I remember, " Ethan acknowledged, "does that mean you've found another man to be with?"

"There is someone who has very capably filled the void in my life caused by you father's death," Ulani affirmed. "I hope you can support me with my choice as I have supported you in your choices. Can I count on you and Beefcake?"

There was a second's pause, the thought of his mother being with someone other than his dad was a difficult concept for the young doctor to wrap his head around. "Yeah mom, I trust your judgement. I support you. You too Dylan, right?"

"Hey...this is family business." Dylan put his hands up, "But whatever floats your boat I guess."

Just then, the door chime rang. Airi had come over after doing what she needed to do, and was still in her uniform plus black leather flight jacket.

Ethan, trying to figure out what man among the crew could possibly replace his father, and if he would want to be called dad, opened the door. It took him a second to realize the person standing in front of him was a woman and another second for it to register in his brain why she was here.

"Come in," he said, trying to keep the surprise out of his voice as he stepped aside.

She was in full tomboy mode, with short hair and all. Fully confident in her element and she gave him a short nod. "Thank ya." Airi gave, stepping inside, one hand laying at her side while the other rested on her waist. "Evenin' fellas. Sorry if I'm interrupting anything." Her eyes look up at Ethan and Dylan, with a slight inclination of her head towards Ulani. The two men were taller than her by several inches..something that didn't escape her as her back foot pivoted ever so slightly off of her front foot. The usual wariness being there. How would Ethan react, and then there was Dylan who would no doubt help his ...lover? She wasn't sure what stage they were at yet. And then one thought struck her.

I'm surrounded by tall people.

Ulani saw the apprehension in her lover. She also knew a way to get her to relax. She got up from her seat, walked over to Airi, put her arms around her love and gave her a full kiss on the lips.

Turning back toward Ethan and Dylan, Ulani spouted, "Boys, meet Lieutenant Airi Saxa, my new love!"

The thought of his mother taking another lover had been something of a surprise to Ethan, though he couldn't really blame her, it had been a year and a half for her, so he wanted to show his support and had vowed to do it. However, to say that he was surprised that she was seeing and if the kiss were any indication, doing a lot more than seeing, another woman, would have been the understatement of the decade.

It wasn't as if he objected really, how could he since and Dylan were together, but he was surprised. He cut his eyes between his mother, Ari and Dylan and simply shrugged his shoulders~What the hell,~ he thought to himself,~as long as she's happy.~

"Good morning Ari, " he said, "can I get you something to drink?"

Airi had reciprocated the kiss, and then nodded slightly. "Sure, some sweet tea would be good, when you can please." She was definitely trying to make the right impression. And if a few "dad's" got thrown in there, she wouldn't mind that either. Already having a parental instinct did sometimes help.

Ulani admired how quickly her son had gotten past the surprised look on his face. She also knew that if he took more after her, the look wouldn't have crossed his face. He wouldn't allow his face to register the feeling. People in her profession had died doing so.

"Come Love," Ulani implored, "sit on the couch with me."

Airi walked over easily and sat with her, watching what would come next..

Dylan had watched the whole interchange silently as he leaned against the wall. The turn of events didn't really surprise him, not when it came to Ulani. What was more on his mind was Ethan. If both of his parents were bi then what did that mean for him? Would he, Dylan find himself being tossed aside for some woman some day? Forcing his expression to remain neutral, he chastised himself for being silly then pushed away from the wall. "I...uh...need to go shower. I have a few work related things to do tonight."

Ethan turned and looked at Dylan, his facial expression betrayed nothing, but there was something about his lover's body language that troubled Ethan. He would definitely talk it over with him later.

Ulani's expression took a serious note. Although she had been trying very hard to like Dylan, he was Intel. If anyone knew the Intel types, it was Ulani. The jury was still out.

"Well!" she sounded offended. "That was rude!"

"He's just busy mom, he's a department head and all," Ethan replied in Dylan's defense, "I'm sure he doesn't mean anything by it."

"Need I remind you," Ulani said with the sharpness of a dagger, "you are a department head too! So is Ri, for that matter. And both of you are still here."

She let that point sink in before adding, "Regardless of what you think, Ethan, Ri and I are lovers. We will remain lovers. We wanted you to know our joy. And that we will be gone for a while."

"Mom, I'm the last one to complain about you being lovers with a woman. A little surprised maybe. Okay, a lot surprised to be honest. But if she makes you happy I'm not going to complain. And I know Dylan well enough to know he isn't upset about it either, but something did. He's not a rude man.

I'm going to go talk to him, but first, what do you mean you and she are going away together. Do I want t know why?"

"I'll let Lani answer that, but...about Dylan, he seemed like a wounded puppy. Just an educated guess, but he's probably worried about getting marginalized or pushed aside." Airi shrugged a bit, crossing her legs and watching the response.

Ethan face lost some of is color. "Marginalized? But I love him, I would never do that."

"I know you wouldn't. But maybe someone else? Like...family." Airi shrugged. "I dunno, it's just a thought."

"We will be going away on unfinished business that I have," Ulani confirmed to Ethan. "Ri agreed to come along for the adventure." She didn't indicate what part of the trip would be the adventure part. The "unfinished business" or the adventure taking place on the shuttle as they were taking the time getting there and back. Just the thought placed an arousing image in Ulani's mind.

"What kind of unfinished business?" Ethan pressed.

She gave Ethan a grim look as she would only state, "Family business."

"It's best you not know," Ulani suggested. "We plan to return as quickly as we can. However, in the event we don't, I've left some things in my guest quarters that I intend to pass down to you if I don't make it." She looked at Ri and winked, "But with this team, we'll be back. Have you ever seen her shoot a phaser? I'm sure we'll be back for the wedding."

"Good, I wouldn't want you to miss that. We haven't even set the date yet, but I am going to talk with Dylan about that. Do you know about how long you'll be gone?" Ethan asked.

"Shouldn't be that long big guy. But long enough to get the job done." Airi nodded at that, a small smile on her face as she leaned her smaller frame against Ulani's taller one. The latter could add to her words if she wanted to.

"Just know that I love you, Buttercup," Ulani expressed. "Hell, I even like Beefcake; just don't tell him that," she added with a grin.

"And my new girlfriend has quite the way with words." Airi murmured, chuckling a bit.

"We'll leave you and Dylan to yourselves, now," Ulani stated. She mischievously looked at Ri and winked, "We've got a lot to do tonight before we leave bright and early."
