Checking under the hood

Ishakawa had the padd that felt heavenlier than most holding his medical records; the had pages for the wounds inflicted upon him during slavery; a majority were 'healed, and not apparent on the surface. The notes of repairs and skin regeneration's were quite the read, if one is a Medical Doctor.

On his way to the Hera Ishakawa memorized the Senior Staff as they would be his number one people to look after; the master... captain would like it that way he is sure. But the regulations state he must be checked again by the Chief Medical Officer or a qualified member of the Medical staff. Ishakawa would have liked the EMH; they do not have a judgmental personality where it seemed Doctor like to lecture patients.

He walked onto the Sick bay and with only a few seconds managed to note exactly where he needed to be.

"Doctor Chaparral." Ishakawa greet with a smile as it was a pleasant method of introduction. "I am Taro Ishakawa, the New Operations Chief, I have come for my medical evaluation." He offered the PADD to the Doctor as he spoke.

Ethan had been a bit preoccupied, before Taro arrived, trying to decide between Risa an Paris for a wedding, this after treating a patient with the flu and a young Ensign who had got into a sparing match with a bulkhead and lost.

When the new officer had spotted, he quickly sat the PAaD down and stood to greet him. Taking the offered PAaD, Ethan said, "Good afternoon Lieutenant, "have a seat on he biobed there, while I have a read."

"Of course Doctor." Ishakawa said simply.

Ishakawa did as bidden and removed his jacket to fold it neatly beside him and looked straight ahead at the Doctor as he waited; the lower jaw and upper neck were his target, it would take a bit for all the wounds to be cataloged and the repairs documented. Two years under the Orion Rules of labor were not what one thinks of as kind.

Ethan's eyes widened slightly as he began examining the man. "Do you want to tell me what happened?" he asked as he pulled out a tricorder.

"The Orion Syndicate are not a bunch known for their hospitality; impressment takes on a whole new meaning." He looked the Doctor in the eye. "You live to serve this ship' to an Orion is an ultimatum not a request, I served but not well. They seemed to think they could take my Honor, Bushido would not allow me to bow before them though as you read they tried in force."

"Lieutenant I can assure you, that I am probably the only one on this ship that knows something of what you're going through. I was kidnapped and they took me from here. They wanted me to give them what I knew about bio-weapons. They tried to fu, mess me up too. I even lost my arm over it."

"Ho." Ishakawa said in the strong Male 'Yes' acknowledgement. "You are fortunate if that is all they took; I was dishonored and my Karma will never recover."

"They took more then that," Ethan replied, "they even tattooed Ian's Property on my chest. But how did they dishonor you?"

Ishakawa tensed visibly, it was not a subject he readily spoke of, but there is a time and place for all things to be in the light. "I helped to repair those things that took innocent lives because I was weak." He put simply. "I lived to serve those ships... to protect those lives that were taken despite..." His jaw locked for a second. "I was a pawn to them and played as such." He nod as though that were all need be said of it.

"I'm not going to push you," the doctor said, but if you ever want to talk about it, I think I can relate. Is there anything I do need to know as your doctor?"

"I - have trouble sleeping, I find I must wear myself out physically, you might note several strains and such as my ability for physical output is ... long endurance. I was instructed by those in rehabilitation to inquire for aids should my body become over taxed in a medical opinion?" He looked over. "I had trouble avoiding... dreams." He admired since the Doctor would have an understanding of the problem perhaps better than those who had seen to his rehabilitation and not been through similar events?

"Oh hell, "Ethan said, "I know all about dreams. I have to be careful not to self medicate. I've probably woken up Dylan more times than I can count. Sinek, our Chief Science Officer taught me to meditate, and, and we did a mind meld. It helped a lot. I can give you something to help you sleep. But it can be addictive. I'd have to monitor you and your use."

"I-I trust your judgement." Ishakawa said as he had to admit this is among the first people outside those in the events that might actually have an idea of what the Orions threw at him. "I will not use it unless my usual methods cannot assure me getting the rest I need Doctor." He was reluctant to even ask but he knew that he needed the rest and the Doctor had put out the first vibes that Ishakawa might eventually trust.

"Good, I'm going to finish checking you over and then I'll give you some pills. I want you to let me know if you need to use them. Okay?'

"A-as you say Doctor." It was showing a weakness, he hated it yet it was to help him recover at the same time. "I would enjoy a night of sleep and if it works well I can see where it would become a habit." Ishakawa said almost coldly. "Trust me when I say I will not try to use them too often, the goal is to be able to sleep on my own if I am correct?"

"Yes, that's the goal. But, like I said you might want to talk to Sinek."

"I am not a fan of counselors." Ishakawa said solemnly. "They tend to take too high a view of their abilities and power they wield over a career." He said. "The hagakure states People with Intelligence will use it to fashion things both true and false and will try to push through whatever they want with their clever reasoning. This is injury from Intelligence." He put flatly. "I have not met a counselor that did not think they were superior."

"Well Sinek isn't a counselor, he's just a science officer, and a good friend. But I'm not going to try to force you into anything. I'm not a counselor and I know I'm not superior, but I'm free of you ever want to talk. And my fiance is Chief of Intel, I think i can relate there too."

"I will consider your suggestion." Ishakawa said. "I apologize as it seems Doctors always refer me to counselors. I know I should talk of it but I do not wish to unbury them even from under the shallow grave I am trying to use for the memories." Ishakawa replied. "I became a Ronin because of them, but the Bushido teaches one must be a Ronin several times in his life to be a true Samurai."

"I understand, "Ethan replied, "I mean about the whole counselor thing. And I do know a little about the Samurai code, I have read a little history. But it does sound fascinating. Would you like to come over for dinner sometime and we could talk more about that?"

"I would be honored." Ishakawa said with a slight bow of the head. "You are kind; I am at your service."

Ethan returned the bow. Now let me run this scan, and then I'll give you that prescription, then we can both be on our way. I'm sure you have other places you'd like to be than in sickbay."

"You have a wisdom Doctor." Ishakawa agreed. "I would rather see you in more 'social' setting. I have spent much time in sickbays; with respects, would rather avoid for a time." He gave a softer expression from his hardened face. "And I have a department I must put in order."

Ethan ran a scan and found about what he had expected to find under the circumstances. There were some old and new injuries that had, for the most part healed, albeit some of them badly. After he was done he said, "Well, I'm going to pass you. But you might want to consider some physical therapy."

"I have started an exercise regimen that is working out the entire body." Ishakawa told. "I was thinking of a massage therapy for compensating for the body while I am rebuilding it." He was not going to admit the pain he had to endure to get the body back into that fighting trim it once had been.

"We do have some competent massage therapist here," the doctor said, "if you decide to move forward with that let me know."

"I will be sure to do so." Ishakawa replied. "It is a strong possibility." He admitted.

"Very well, you're dismissed Lieutenant. But my door is always open. And, I'm making lasagna tomorrow if you want to stop by, say around 18:30? Oh, and when I say make, I mean cook, not just replicate. uh I guess I should ask if you like lasagna."

"If I am not the one cooking I like food of many kinds." Ishakawa tried the joke. "Will I be helping with dishes?"

"No, I think I can spare you that chore too."Ethan responded, "I'll make my husband to be do that."

"Then I shall see you at 18:30." Ishakawa replied as he slipped off the table and started to leave.
