Moving? To Where?

Posted on Thu Mar 24th, 2016 @ 6:51pm by Aewia Larani & Lieutenant Daln Hadren & Staff Warrant Officer Nexi

Mission: Talosian Perversions
Location: Nexi/Aewia's Quarters
Timeline: Backpost

Aewia was pacing. Nexi was out later than expected from her date and though it was expected, it still worried her. Something had changed - she could sense that from here.

Nexi had stayed at Daln's quarters before, so it was nothing new when her first reaction was to go there after leaving the holodeck with Daln, but Aewia should know... Tugging on Daln's arm, Nexi changed course back to her quarters to check in on Aewia and give her the news.

"Aewia," Nexi called for her sister once entering the shared living space, shedding her jacket and tossing it over the back of a chair.

Aewia glomped Nexi as hard as her weight could, clinging to her sister. "Is everything ok? What happened?"

"OOF!" The two sisters toppled to the floor, but this was not so unusual; accustomed to such greeting, Nexi had taken some time to master the art of falling with a clingy sibling. "Yeah, everything's fine kiddo," Nexi replied, ruffling her hair.

Comforted but still cautious, Aewia looked up at Nexi. "You have news though. Is it... Is it adult love?"

That caused a reaction in Nexi she didn't even think was possible; she blushed. "Yes, but I promise it's not contagious."

"Ah." That was all Aewia said as she climbed off of Nexi and returned to her feet, a bit mopey. "So..."

Daln smiled at Aewia. "Don't worry about it, Aewia." He didn't know what to do with his hands. What was he supposed to do? Hug her? Make the traditional Betazoid greeting? He had only seen her a few times in passing on the ship, and before that he had been a little bit of a jerk when they were teenagers. "Nexi was just going to tell you some news." He looked at Nexi, panicking. He had no idea how to do this with a brain-damaged sister. He had done it with another sister, long ago, but she had had her wits about her.

Nexi rolled her eyes at Daln. "Aewia, I'm moving in with Daln," she said as she picked herself up off the floor. "He said he was okay with you moving in with us if you ain't ready to be on your own yet."

Aewia nodded, trying to think hard about this development. "We'll still be together on the ship, either way. I'd rather not, if that's ok." It was taking all her strength to not go lay down, curl up in a ball, and cry. She needed to stay strong like her sister. "And we can still have movie night."

Nexi had always sworn that if there was ever anything that made her little sister cry that she would go kick its ass, but now here she was the one making Aewia cry. Well, almost; Nexi could feel Aewia biting back the urge. "Hey, ain't gonna be that much different," Nexi said, pulling Aewia into her arms; Nexi struggled with showing genuine affection with Daln and everyone else, but never with Aewia...

"I'm already spending most nights at his place, so I'll just be moving my stuff in with him now. We'll still do movie night and I'll still let you play dress up with me when you think I should look pretty... But if you want me to stay, all you gotta do is ask..." Nexi often wondered what love was, but that was because she couldn't see how unconditional her love was for Aewia. It was there for Daln too, but that was still something so undeveloped compared to the bond she shared with her sister, and she couldn't even see any of it...

Aewia hugged her sister tightly but shook her head, tears threatening to spill out at any moment. "No, I couldn't ask that of you. You have your own life and you're right that we'll still be together. Can you just leave some of your clothes behind please? I'll feel better." Aewia loved Nexi as well. She could never deny her sister to her own life - not when she had a chance to find something she could no longer appreciate herself. The doctors had been able to do a great many number of miracles for her, but that part of her seemed forever lost.

Nexi let go of Aewia, but only so she could reach over to the chair where she had tossed her jacket; it was leather and had been a part of Nexi's wardrobe for longer than she could remember. Nexi took this jacket, the jacket that had become a symbol of who she'd once been, and draped it around Aewia's shoulders. "I'd leave my favorite pants, but I think they'd fall off your skinny butt," Nexi said bluntly, hugging her sister again.

Daln chuckled. "Yes, it would be a shame to lose those pants. They are...very nice," he said with a grin. Then he cleared his throat. "They look quite good on you." He tugged on his uniform and clapsed his hands behind his back. He had no idea how to do this with Aewia, mostly because he had never spent any time with her. All he knew of "the new Aewia" was that she liked ice cream. A lot.

"This is enough. Thank you." Aewia said, wrapping the jacket around her tightly. She knew the importance of this jacket and she'd do anything to protect it. "When will you be moving?"

"I was going to stay with him tonight, maybe move my stuff later, but I can stay here tonight if it would make you feel better," Nexi said.

"I'd appreciate it but you don't have to. I've spent nights alone a lot lately and I feel pretty good so I should be ok." Aewia said with a brave smile.

"Alright, but only if you're sure," Nexi replied. "And you know how to reach me if you need me."

Aewia nodded confidently. "Mmhmm, I do. And the EMH is on call if I need him."

"If it gets to be too much, just let me know, I'll come back and crash with you, okay?" Nexi said, still worried that Aewia wasn't ready for this and that she was just agreeing to it because it was was she thought Nexi wanted, and all Nexi wanted was for Aewia to be happy.

"Okay." Aewia was as sure of this as she could be. She knew Nexi wanted her to be happy... But what of Nexi's happiness? Here she had a chance at it and even if it didn't work out, she'd still have Aewia to come home to.

Daln tried to get out of his awkwardness. Coming over, he said, "And Aewia, if you ever change your mind, you're welcome at our place. I'll have sundaes for you every night." He gave her a grin. "And I make great muffins."

"Muffins? Sundaes?" For a moment, Aewia reconsidered it, but then remembered that they needed their privacy. Thoughts of what they did in their private hours was not something she needed on her mind right now.

He picked up on the awkwardness and cleared his throat. "Um, yeah. But just remember, you're always welcome."

"You can have muffins and sundaes anywhere you want," Nexi said, giving Aewia one more hug. "I know you want me to be happy, but if you ever need an emergency slumber party to make you feel better, all you gotta do is say so and I'll be here."

Aewia nodded contentedly with the hug. "Ok, I will. want to celebrate a little then?" Not waiting for an answer, she headed over to the replicator and punched up three waffle cone sundaes.

Nexi chuckled as she followed her sister and sat at the table to share some waffle cones with the people she cared about most; part of her had hoped that she and Daln could escape back to his quarters after they broke the news, but if this is what Aewia needed to help make the transition then it was the least Nexi could do. Besides, Nexi was finally starting to like ice cream for all of it that Aewia had been practically force feeding her over the months since her rescue.

"You're alright, kiddo, you're alright," Nexi said, reaching over to ruffle Aewia's hair, then dug into her sundae with a grin.
